Look After Your Hair at Home – Top Tips by The Experts at Zappas Salons in Berkshire & Hampshire
During these challenging times, your top priority should be staying safe and following Government advice surrounding the spread of Coronavirus. It can be easy to feel overwhelmed and make snap (regrettable) decisions with your home hair & beauty regime.
We also understand that you may be concerned with your hair style and hair colour during an extended period of isolation. Below, our Zappas stylists have provided their top tips to help you through this time.
Can’t I Just Colour My Hair at Home?
We use only the highest quality hair colour in our salon with quality pigments and conditioning agents to protect your colour and condition. It is tailored to you and, especially with highlights, we are likely to use multiple colours to create a bespoke, multi dimensional effect on your hair.
Many shop bought box hair dyes are prone to fading and changing colour, or not looking AT ALL like they do on the box. This is because they are a “one size fits all” colour which don’t take into account your starting colour, natural highlights and hair condition.
We’ve all heard the hair colour horror stories of blonde hair turning brassy or green and you may need a professional hair colour correction once we are open again – which will take both time and money to rectify.
Should I Trim My Hair?
You may feel like your hair has taken on a mind of it’s own during this isolation period, but it is only likely to grow half an inch over the course of a month, so there’s no need to panic. Please do NOT cut your own hair at home, it is unlikely to end well and, whilst we are in lockdown, we cannot fix the problem for you.
Use this at-home time as an opportunity to give you hair a “glow up”, invest in some professional hair masques to keep your hair hydrated, turn off the heated styling tools and concentrate on improving the health of your hair.
Experiment With Your Hair Style
When you wear your hair in the same style every day, it can start to look flat and attract the eye to outgrown roots. Try changing your parting to the other side, or try an eye-catching style to draw attention away from the roots.
You’ve got plenty of time at home, so now is the ideal time to experiment. Get creative with plaits, new partings or outlandish styles for your next big night out! Summer is also a great time to try out hair coverings such as scarves, as you should be keeping your hair protected from UV rays.
