The Ollie Young Foundation

Zappas hair salons are proud to support the Ollie Young Foundation, a new charity launched in memory of a Wokingham boy who lost his brave battle against an inoperable brain tumour in February, one day before his sixth birthday and only twelve weeks after displaying first symptoms.

Ollie was a regular customer at Zappas and a favourite client of stylist Katie Knight. Soon after his diagnosis, Katie went to visit him at Helen & Douglas House hospice.

“I knew straightaway that I wanted to do something to help the charity,” says Katie. “They took such wonderful care of Ollie and his family and I met so many other wonderful staff and families there…. and that’s how my sky dive event came about!”

With the full support of the Zappas salons, a skydive, a rock ‘n’ roll night, a blow dry event and several cake sales later, Katie has raised over £4,500 for Helen & Douglas House and now also the Ollie Young Foundation, which will share a percentage of their funds with the hospice, along with the CLIC Sargent charity. Katie is now a dedicated member of the Foundation’s fundraising team.

“The Zappas staff and clients across all of our salons are all so supportive of our fundraising for the Ollie Young Foundation. Everyone has been fantastic. Long may it continue!”
